Today I would like to talk about what it takes to be a successful person. I have spent most of my life on this quest. While I have made lots of money and lost it all a few times, and during the spring of 2018, as I was well into my 50th year, it hit me like a laser. Actually I was overweight and passed out on the floor of a hotel. I was away from my family with full-blown diabetes and blood sugars through the roof when that laser hit me. As I came to, I made a pact that just pushing for money is not enough, there has to be a balance in life.
See I thought success was making a lot of money…$10K per month, $20K per month, I even got to $100K per month and guess what? I was still not happy, because my health and mind was a total mess. I realized I got a second chance to live and this time I was going to get it right. The final chapter of my life has not been written yet and dying at 50 is not what I want!
I am going to share my 3 step strategy on how I became a successful person.
Step 1: Self Improvement and Having the Best Mindset.
Back in 2015, I started getting into watching the news following politics. Yuk, it made me angry and completely out of sorts. I lost a lot of my friends only to find out that watching the news just made me angry. After all, I have made a good living over the years no matter who ran the country.
The news media has a job. Their job is to play on our emotions and get us addicted to watching their every move. I pushed it away and stopped. When I came to while in that hotel where I passed out I wrote down three strategies. This was the first one. I need to develop good mindset. You do not have to pay for this! Search any YouTube, Vimeo, Google etc and search for “how to be a successful person”, “Success”, “Motivation”, “Self Improvement” etc.
You will get content that you can listen to. Your mind will start to change, you will want to start reading and get motivated to get healthy which is the next step.
Step 2: Get Healthy
Around Sept 2018 I was feeling great, and my mind was back in control. I was walking a lot while listening to my iPhone on Youtube. While I made a lot of changes in my health, now it was time to kick it into high gear. I decided to join a gym and work out every day, ok…well at least 5 days per week. Eating right, watching my carb intake and exercising a minimum of 5 days a week helped me immensely. I am providing a separate article on Diabetes here.
Fast forward to Sept 2019 a year later and I have lost 90 plus pounds. My A1C is under 6, which is excellent for those that know about high blood sugars. My mind is positive and my body is a machine. I still have more weight to lose. However, I am not being controlled by Diabetes and watching every little thing I do, and I feel great.
I will not go back to drinking beer and soda or being lazy. But a couple of margaritas and maybe a pizza as a treat will not hurt me. S ee this is the best positive and healthy me. Now I am ready to share my next step in how to be a successful person.
Step 3: Making Money And Creating Wealth.
This is the best. See I used to think I would make money and once I did I would get healthy. But it does not work that way. When your mind and body are not functioning the best, you make terrible decisions. One of my biggest “bad” decisions, was hiring a coach. Not that it is a bad idea, but these coaches took advantage of me. At least I thought they did at the time! I spent nearly $30,000 for one coach and another $10K for one in Vegas.
I thought I was getting real value but realized I was only trying to buy a friend. When the money stopped, they dropped me like a bad habit. Do I blame them now? Not at all. See I would have probably dropped me back then too. I was a mess. So when you do not have mind and body you really have no business getting coaches involved trying to fix you. Fast forward to today and I have no anger I have forgiven them and myself. You see, the money was spent, and they did deliver the value, however, it was me that was not ready for success.
Now, today guess what? I have all the knowledge that I need from the coaches I hired a couple of years ago. I am redesigning my business to have a few components. Health Nutrition, Wealth and Self Improvement. This became the start of socialbuzzconnect.com I will only write and talk about these 3 steps. Because without any of these steps it does not work.
Get your mind on track by listening to anything self-improvement, do it while you are walking, running, and/or lifting weights. Start reading and then you will be ready to start with step 3. The how to make money step is still my favorite step. Now with a clear mind and fit body, it is way more fun making money and being an entrepreneur. Which is who I am and always will be.
